Utah Fire Prevention
In most cases where there are fires in the home it is by accident or in ways that could have been prevented. One example that Daryl gives in the video is about a fire station having a fire in the station. They had cleaned up an oil spill of some sort and had the rags that they used to clean it up in a bag and they were left in the room. The room had a high enough concentration and not enough ventilation that it lead to spontaneous combustion. This is just one example of a way that there has been a fire that could have easily been prevented if the correct precautions are taken.
Ways to prevent fires in your home
Throw away your oily rags. If you do mechanical work on cars for example throw those rags away when you are done with them or take the proper precautions to make sure they don’t lead to a home fire. There could be other reasons why you would have an oily rag but those need to be thrown away outside and gotten rid of.
In your furnace rooms or utility rooms don’t leave clutter around the furnace or the water heater. The vents could get blocked and could cause the furnace to over heat and that could lead to a fire in you home. Same with the water heater, it can get hot sometimes and if there are flammable materials close by or touching the water heater it could also lead to a fire in your home.
Those a few mistakes that people make that can lead to a fire, there are many more ways but those are ways that most people tend to forget.
